Who We Are
Faith in action. Hope in community.
Veronica's Veil Foundation is a Catholic-inspired humanitarian and educational foundation. We exist so that no university student has to face a difficult financial moment alone.
Our Mission
Practical support, offered with dignity.
We provide practical support to university students experiencing financial hardship — particularly those who risk interrupting their education because they cannot meet essential educational costs.
We do this by building a community — the Veils — whose small, regular contributions become a dependable source of collective support. We believe that the people we serve are capable young men and women with dreams, intelligence and ambition, who sometimes need a shoulder to lean on so they can keep moving forward.
Our Vision
A community of 10,000 Veils
A Uganda where no capable student is forced to abandon their education for lack of a modest, timely intervention — and where a faith-inspired community stands ready to carry the weight together.
Our Slogan
Giving a shoulder to lean on.
What We Believe
Values that shape every decision.
Drawn from the principles of Catholic Social Teaching and lived out in practical service.
Human Dignity
Every student is a person of infinite worth — never a case, a statistic or an object of pity.
Solidarity
We belong to one another. A burden shared among many becomes light enough to carry.
Faith
Our compassion flows from Christ's example. We serve because we have first been loved.
Stewardship
Every shilling entrusted to us is handled with care, transparency and accountability.
Justice
Access to education should not depend on the timing of a family's misfortune.
Compassion & Service
We step toward hardship, not away from it — quietly, respectfully and practically.
Why Veronica's Veil?
The courage to step forward.
In Catholic devotion — most familiarly in the Sixth Station of the Cross — Veronica is remembered as the woman who moved through the crowd to wipe the face of Jesus as He carried His cross to Calvary.
Tradition holds that the image of His face remained on her veil. Whatever else may be said about the story, its heart is simple and enduring: in the presence of suffering, one person chose compassion over comfort, and drew near rather than looking away.
Veronica could not remove Christ's burden. But she refused to let Him carry it unseen. This is the spirit of our foundation. We may not be able to change every circumstance a student faces — but we can make sure they do not face it alone. We can be the shoulder to lean on.
Our logo carries the face of Christ, crowned with thorns, upon the veil. It reminds us whom we serve when we serve a student in need, and calls us to treat every person we meet with reverence.
We present this story as a devotional tradition held within the Church, and make no claims beyond that.
The Veil Community
Members are called Veils.
A Veil is someone who has decided to be, for a student they may never meet, what Veronica was for Christ: a person who steps forward.
Veils contribute UGX 10,000 each month. Alone it is modest. Together — as a community of 10,000 — it becomes a dependable foundation for sustained educational support, owned by the community rather than by any single donor.
Governance & Leadership
